The moral climate of our nation has been changing for many years. Things that once seemed so solid and secure have been challenged in our day. The faith principles upon which our great nation was founded have come under much attack. The roots of family values have been threatened by winds of change. The things that once seemed so distant from our little county have now come to meet us face-to-face.

The Bible declares in Psalm 11:3 “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” The question is often asked, what can we do? As Christians, as citizens of this great nation, state and community; what can we do? We can take a stand for our faith in God, for our families, for our community and for our future. We can seek to raise the moral standard in our day.

In May 2008 a group of local pastors met to discuss the concerns associated with proposed beer and wine sales in Alexander County along with a referendum involving liquor by the drink in town of Taylorsville. From this meeting came the idea for Alexander Citizens for Faith & Family Values. This group seeks to unite the citizens of our county to face the moral issues facing our county, our state and our nation.

It was on a hot Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2008, that a group of concerned citizens from throughout Alexander County gathered to lay the groundwork for this organization. This group voted to elect Rev. Gary Jennings as Chairman of the Alexander Citizens for Faith & Family Values. Also voted on in the meeting was Rev. Neal Walker to serve as Secretary and Rev. Paul Schronce to serve as Treasurer for the organization. From this initial start other committees were formed to handle various aspects of this organization.
